Reduces cabin heat absorption by as much as 50% compared to other glazing materialKALAMAZOO — Total Plastics Marine Division has partnered with Spartech, a world leader in the manufacture of specialty cell cast acrylic sheet, to bring you Polycast UV-SC SolarControl.
SolarControl is a revolutionary new marine glazing material that blocks harmful UV rays and reduces cabin heat build up by as much as 50 percent when compared to other glazing material, such as glass and standard acrylic. This results in lower interior temperatures by 20˚F or more, depending on conditions. SolarControl is the most practical and cost-effective optical grade monolithic glazing product in the marine marketplace.
SolarControl is specifically designed to withstand the unique, and often adverse, conditions typical for marine applications. It as developed in compliance with standards established by the ABYC and ANSI.
SolarControl features Spartech’s proprietary abrasion resistant coating, making it 45 times more durable than uncoated acrylic. It’ll hold up intense exposure to saltwater and sun, standard plastic cleaning agents and friction from use of windshield wipers.
The material, which is available in a multitude of colors and gauges, is suitable for fabricating and thermoforming, making it versatile enough to fit most new or existing designs.
